About IGS
Company Milestones
First Stage: Start-up Period (1991-1996)
Mission in this Stage: To become the most well-known game development company in the Chinese region
International Games System Co., Ltd. was officially established in 1991. While there were immense market opportunities in arcade games, most mid- to high-end products were in the hands of major Japanese game developers. In response to this, with its adherence to its own brand and independent R&D of key technologies, IGS entered the market which Japan had a monopoly on for a long time. It aimed to become the most well-known arcade game development company in the Chinese region. Key games developed in this stage: Fighting game "Dragon World"; puzzle game "Alien Challenge".
Second Stage: Arcade Games Took Off (1996-1999)
Mission in this Stage: To become the largest game development company in the Chinese region
In 1996, the 2D arcade console PolyGame Master (or PGM) was successfully developed. IGS became the only major game developer beside Japanese companies to have its own arcade system board in the Asian region. Using this game platform as a foundation, IGS not only successfully developed a variety of puzzle games, but also established a firm foothold for cross-platform game porting in the future. In this stage, PGM continuously launched excellent games appreciated by the masses, including "Oriental Legend", "The Killing Blade", "Knights of Valour". The company continued to invest in R&D resources. In 1999, it successfully developed the first 3D racing game, taking Japanese companies out of their exclusive position in 3D simulators. IGS' outstanding performance in the market made it become the largest game development company in the Chinese region.
Third Stage: Rapid Development Across Different Platforms (2000-2003)
Mission in this Stage: To become an all-round game development company in the Chinese region
IGS has always adhered to the business principle of "focus on the core; independent R&D". The company continues to strengthen its core game technology as market trends and industry technology evolve. In this stage, IGS not only improved its porting technology across arcade and PC platforms, but also gained momentum from the internet revolution for its next wave of development. In the field of arcade games, the R&D team continuously made breakthroughs when technological bottleneck emerged. They fully utilized different features of PGM, TSG, and Atomiswave to develop and port games. The company also yielded excellent achievements in the simulator market, and became a top brand in the simulator market of the Greater China region.
IGS developed even more rapidly in the PC game field. Within just three years, the company was already able to develop different genres of single-player, local network, and cyber games for PC platform. The company also established its second division - the online game division.
Fourth Stage: Overseas Expansion (2004-Present)
Mission in this Stage: To develop toward the capital market and become a world-class game development company
The game industry is technology-intensive, brain-intensive, and cutting-edge. With the aim to strengthen the adherence to its principles - focusing on its own brand and independent R&D - IGS understood deeply that only elevating the enterprise's brand awareness and reputation could attract even more outstanding industry talents. The company also publicly raised funds to move towards becoming global. It proactively received emerging stock market consultation. It applied to be on the emerging stock market on March 12, 2004, and officially got listed on the emerging stock market on July 12, 2006. The company will continue to focus on developing its core business - games - and it has set these specific goals for the future: One: To hold the highest market share in the simulator market globally. Two: To become the best provider of online game content. Three: To form the best game R&D team, and to implement global business strategies while gradually reaching the long-term goal of becoming globalized and world-class.
